Yoshi Hontani Checking In

07-11-2010 | By Jeff Day |

Those of you who have been reading the Acoustic Revive Chronicles, and the articles about the Leben Hi-Fi Company electronics from Japan (see the links page), will recognize the name of Yoshi Hontani, who exports both of these fine product lines from Japan around the world to eagerly awaiting customers.

In fact Yoshi San is quite a world traveler himself, and just recently traveled on a tour through Libya in Northern Africa with his wife and two sons, and was kind enough to send some photo highlights of his adventures that I could share with all of you.

Yoshi told, "When my wife and I were in our twenties, we stayed in Libya for about three years on business (it was about 30 years ago). We were able to go back on a tour recently, and the the flat we used to live was still there (the one with the two hanging carpets in the photo below)! But there were also many new hotels and buildings to make the scenery of Tripoli city quite a bit different." (Tripoli is the Capitol of Libya)

"Hotel we stayed in while in Tripoli (below)"

"Cafe in Tripoli"

"Camel meat steak"

"Ancient Roman ruin of Sabratha"

"Roman theater in Sabratha"

"Salon of a rich house"

"Roman toilets" (I just saw a TV show that said the Romans employed musicians to play in the public toilets, not so much because they were so cultured, but in order to drown out the noises of ... well you get the idea. - Jeff)

"Endless ruins"

"Road to the sea"

"Sky, sea, and ruins"

"Greek-Roman ruin in Cyrene"

"2000 years keeping water"

"Clashed since 365 BCE"

"Graves, graves, graves ..."

"Rising sun and ruins"

"Benghazi City"

Many thanks sharing the photos from your tour of Libya with your family, Yoshi San! Beautiful photos, and it looks like you were able to visit some amazing places!
