Those of you who read my book review at Positive Feedback Online of Jim Smith's Get Better Sound know that I hold Jim and his talents in the highest regard. Jim's book is a must have, and in the review I said:
"I highly recommend Get Better Sound by Jim Smith, and I think it should be in everyone's audio library. If you'll take the time to work through Jim's tips and implement them in your Hi-Fi system you'll be rewarded with a transformed system. Don't think about it, just do it. You'll be glad you did.
Thank you, Jim, for taking the time to write down your 35+ years of audio wisdom in such an accessible format."
Well guess what? Jim's now got a companion 3 DVD set to Get Better Sound the book, featuring footage of Jim talking through how to get the best sound from your audio system investment. Want more warmth? Jim tells you how to do it with the gear you've already got. Want more soundstage? Ditto.
Many of you know from contacting me that the first thing I recommend for sorting out a mis-behaving Hi-Fi rig is to get a copy of Jim's book and work through it before spending anymore of your hard earned money on gear, because more gear is usually the last thing you need (big sigh of relief heard far and wide). A little patience combined with Jim's good advice will usually cure what ails you.
I'll be writing up a full article for Positive Feedback Online before too long on Jim's 3 DVD set of Get Better Sound, but let me give you the short version: just buy it, it's worth every penny. As a plus, I just went out to Jim's website to grab a link and noticed that Jim is offering it for half-price during a summer sale at $19.95. You know what to do.
