This morning I got an email from Frederik about the pending delivery of the new Duelund Coherent Audio plastic-free RCA's that he thinks makes for a nice improvement in performance over the already superb Duelund RCA's that I've been terminating my interconnects with.
In his classic short teaser style, Frederik said, "It’s a world’s first in more ways than one 🙂 "
What!? I already knew that the new Duelund RCA's were plastic-free (HERE), so what on Earth did Frederik mean by "... in more ways than one ..."?
The package from Frederik just arrived after a knock at the door by the friendly and expedient FedEx driver, and so it turns out that Today's Fresh Catch is a fully assembled Duelund Coherent Audio RCA DCA16GA tinned-copper interconnect with the new Duelund plastic-free RCA's!
This took me completely by surprise, and it turns out the second "...world's first ..." was the launch of a new Duelund product line of pre-assembled interconnects!
I asked Frederik to tell me all about it, and he responded:
"So first of all, it is the first finished tinned copper interconnect we’ve done – meaning it is in one length, not two separate wires.
Second, it is the first iteration of interconnects we will do, that are completely devoid of plastic. With the regular plastic inside the plugs swapped out with the paper we normally use for our CAST line of components.
I think, you’ll be presently surprised by the difference, though of course ideally the electronics should have the corresponding plastic free female plugs as well."
Note in the photo above that both legs of the DCA16GA are co-located in one oil-soaked & baked cotton insulator, which I call a third "world's first" for DCA16GA tinned-copper wire.
In the end-view of the RCA above you can see the black inner section of the RCA where the normal plastic insulator is replaced by the Duelund CAST style of compressed paper insulator.
The Duelund plastic-free RCA's look to have the same Duelund CAST handle and metal structure as the previous Duelund RCA's, with the exception of the Duelund CAST style of compressed paper insulator replacing the interior plastic insulator.
Well this is really exciting news, both on the plastic-free Duelund RCA and the assembled interconnect fronts, but what about those "... corresponding plastic free female plugs as well ..."?
That makes me strongly suspect Frederik has some plastic-free female plugs in development that we'll be hearing more about in due time - even though he's only hinted at that in the above message - exciting!
This development is so "fresh of a catch" that pricing information is still "to be announced" so stay tuned for more, you'll know it as soon as I do!
I'll be bringing you some listening impressions soon as I get a chance to put the new Duelund CAST tinned-copper DCA16GA interconnects with plastic-free RCA's through their paces - stay tuned!
