The Garrard Project 2015

12-02-2014 | By Jeff Day |

I remember Srajan over at Six Moons telling me way back when that The Garrard Project series of articles (1, 2, 3) I wrote starting in 2004 were the most read articles in Six Moons history. I was surprised to hear that, but quite pleased of course!

Since then, it seems that vintage Garrard - as well as other vintage turntables - have taken the world by storm, which I think is a really good thing.

Garrard Project 2015

I don't even remember why, but I ended up selling my Garrard 301, which was a real bone-headed move on my part. I miss it!

That got me to thinking that I need another Garrard in my life, and so now 10 years & change later, The Garrard Project lives again! I'm putting together the project team now, and hope to have some interesting things to share with you shortly.

One thing I can tell you is that excepting for price, the last ten years have been very favorable towards vintage Garrards, and there's an enormous diversity in individuals providing the very best restorations of the motor assemblies imaginable, extraordinary plinths at every price point, a number of truly inspiring 12-inch tonearms, and some amazing stereo & mono phono cartridges to put on them!

So what would happen if I did The Garrard Project using some of the best of what's available today? Announcing The Garrard Project 2015!

Stay tuned - more to come!
