After doing the North Cascades Highway drive in Washington State, I stopped in at the Sun Mountain Lodge for the night. The Sun Mountain Lodge is located high in the mountains outside of Winthrop, Washington State, and I have to say it was a nice find. Photo below Leica M9 with 50/2 Summicron.
The lodge has a rustic hunting lodge feel to it, but it's not rustic, it's more of a luxury hotel high in the mountains. Below, outside views of the lodge with the Leica M9 + SEM 18/3.8.
When you get inside the lodge is really nice with comfy leather stuffed sofas and chairs (M9 + SEM 18/3.8).
Creepy animal heads were everywhere .... made me feel like someone, something, was always watching me (humor alert) (M9 + Summicron 50/2).
There were nice little rooms where you could cozy up with a book and enjoy the lodge's ambiance (M9 = SEM 18/3.8).
After checking in I got settled in my room, and even the view from my room was nice (M9 + Summicron 50/2).
The grounds around the lodge were really beautiful, with deer cruising around the grounds. I doubt they'd get so close if they saw all their pals mounted on the walls inside.
What's really spectacular about Sun Mountain is what happens as night begins to fall, as there are spectacular vistas in every direction.
After a nice breakfast the next morning, it was time to hit the road again and head down through the Methow Valley towards home.
