The Skagit Valley in Washington State

04-24-2010 | By Jeff Day |

The Skagit Valley of Washington State is one of the most beautiful areas of the Pacific Northwest. In the Spring the Skagit Valley has acres and acres of tulips as far as the eye can see. I arrived a little late so a lot of the fields were put to rest, but there was still beauty to see. The photo above was taken with a Leica M9 plus the classic Summicron 50/2 lens.

There's lots of picture perfect scenes, like the old barn above, framed by lots of beautiful tulips. Another M9 plus Summicron 50/2 combination.

Above is another beautiful scene from the Skagit Valley in Washington State, this time shot with a Leica M9 and 90/2.8 Elmarit combination. I really love the way the Elmarit renders a scene, and the smooth Bokeh that surrounds the in focus areas of the scene.

If you're fortunate enough to stop in the Calico Cupboard Cafe & Bakery in La Conner, Washington State, you'll be treated to a truly world class dining experience. I stopped in for an early morning breakfast and had the pesto, Genoa salami, Swiss cheese, fresh tomato, avocado omelet, along with a steaming mug of coffee - heaven!
