Live Music Calibration

04-24-2010 | By Jeff Day |

It's always nice to get out and listen to some live music to recalibrate your expectations for home Hi-Fi listening. While staying at the La Conner Channel Lodge in Washington State I was able to listen to some nice jazz piano playing by a local musician, whose name I unfortunately did not catch.

Even though a piano is loud in life, it always sounds easy on the ears. This is one thing the Tannoy Westminster Royal SE loudspeakers also do exceptionally well, they can play at life-like levels without inducing strain on the listener, and a well recorded piano sounds much like the live piano I heard last night.

I encourage you to get out and get in a little live music listening, it'll help you dial in your own system to sound its best.
