The Gold Note DS-10 EVO streaming DAC & PSU-10 EVO power supply combo promises as "good as master tape" performance when listening to quad DSD transfers from master tapes.
I'll be investigate that, and the numerous other capabilities of the Gold Note kit, which will take a series of articles to investigate fully.
I'm an old hair-shirt audio guy, who finds great pleasure in single-ended-triode amplification, high-sensitivity loudspeakers, and vinyl playback over vintage-inspired turntables.
Can any digital source provide the sort of sound quality and pleasure that I derive from my more traditional audio orientation?
I like audio software that I can hold in my hands, like LPs and CDs, with their cover art and accompanying literature, and frankly the idea of not having that tactile experience puts me off a bit.
But maybe I can enjoy all three for what they are? We'll see.
Indeed, the promise of master tape level of software quality is very alluring. I'll be listening to streaming sources, and high-resolution music files, as I proceed through exploring the Gold Note DS-10 EVO streaming DAC & PSU-10 EVO power supply combo, and will report back to you what I find out.
