Ho ho ho! A very Merry Christmas to you from Jeff's Place!
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
Jeff hung a stocking on the Westminster with care,
In hopes that St. Mick soon would be there;
The LP’s were nestled all snug in their covers;
With melodies and new music to discover;
A hot toddy in hand, and Christmas lights on the West’s,
I was settled in await’n a visit to Jeff’s.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my listening chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a band of musicians with all their gear,
And a little old rocker so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he must be St. Mick!
More rapid than eagles their soaring riffs came,
And they whistled, and shouted, and sang!
Wow, Mick! Wow, Keith! Wow Charlie and Ronnie!
"Let’s hit it boys, and make it hearty!"
Mick leapt to the top of the porch! Keith to the top of the wall!
"Now riff away! riff away! riff away all!"
As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
Their musical notes flew into the night sky;
Swirling up to my housetop the melodies flew
And they sang “Catch your dreams, believe they can come true!"
St. Mick sprang to the front, and then gave a whistle,
Then up in the air they all flew ‘till invisible.
But I heard St. Mick exclaim, as he flew out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
From my home to yours, may you all enjoy the gift of music, and have a rockin' good Christmas Season!
