I'm up early this morning drinking coffee and listening to the Beatles' Rubber soul LP from the new box set through the Sophia Electric 91-03 300B integrated amplifier.

Particularly considering the 91-03 hasn't even been playing for an hour, its sounding really good. Very natural, sweet, and musical.

Today Pete Riggle & Stephaen Harrell (6Moons) are coming over to finish breadboarding the Duelund crossovers for the Westminster Royal SEs, and if everything works out smoothly we should have the Duelund crossovers up and running today / this weekend.

In the photo above you can see the Tannoy autoformers that arrived from Paul Mills last night (thank you Paul!), and the Duelund CAST silver/carbon resistors (center) with the Duelund CAST copper (left) & Mylar (right) capacitors, that Frederik has provided (a BIG thank you to Frederik!).

Also, below you can see a closeup of the Tannoy autoformer that is used in the high-frequency part of the WRSE crossover, and as Frank was told by the Tannoy Distributor in North America, the TC Group in Kitchener, Ontario, the same autoformer is used in all models where an autoformer is needed.

One of these days I may pursue Pambos' (and Stephaen's) idea of making up a pair of custom nickel core, silver wound, autoformers as a follow-on to the Duelund-WRSE project. Pete just ordered a pair of silver wound transformers with nickel cores for his 2A3 SET amps after hearing Stephaen's silver wound, nickel core, trannies in his 2A3 SET amps. They say those nickel core trannies are really something special.

In the the photo above you can see the copper set screw lugs we are using for connections. Pete swears by them, first because mechanical wire-on-wire connections are the best sounding type of connection, but also because it will allow us to do quick changes of components for future comparisons.

Also in the photo above you can see the binding posts we are using in bypass mode as suggested by Mark Coles (Sablon Audio). Mark likes this approach for the same reason Pete likes the set screw lugs - mechanical wire-on-wire connections sound best. Each H & L crossover board will have four pairs of binding posts used in bypass mode, plus an additional pair for the dedicated Tannoy ground on the driver.

I just got an email from Pete that he's going to stop at the El Fat Cat Grill taco truck on his way to pick up lunch for us to munch during the Duelund festivities today. The Fat Cat is getting rave reviews around here - I can't wait! Yours truly will supply the vino!
