As I mentioned in the Today's Fresh Catch post about the Duelund CAST Silver Capacitors (here), Frederik made up a pair of 6.8 uF Duelund CAST Silver capacitors (below) for me to give a listen to in the C1 position of the Duelund-Westminster Royal SE high-frequency crossover.
As you can see in the photo of the Duelund-WRSE crossover below, all I have to do is loosen the binding post on the far left side, slide the lead of the 6.8 uF Duelund CAST Copper capacitor out, then loosen the setscrew lug and slide the other lead of the 6.8 uF Duelund CAST Copper capacitor out, and then insert the new 6.8 uF Duelund CAST Silver capacitor in its place.
Here's a photo of the 6.8 uF Duelund CAST Silver capacitor (left) sitting next to the 6.8 uF Duelund Copper capacitor (right).
While it isn't totally apparent in the photo because of its perspective, the two capacitors are the same size. The only way you can tell them apart is that the CAST Silver capacitor has silk covered silver ribbon leads, and the CAST Copper capacitor has copper wire leads, and they have different labels (below).
I used the 4mm setting of my KNIPEX crimping tool to shape the ribbon end to slide into the setscrew lug with the lead from the autotransformer.
The other ribbon lead on the 6.8 uF CAST Silver capacitor doesn't need to be crimped, as the ribbon can slide right into the binding post where it is clamped directly to the silver spade connector of the Sablon Audio Panatela speaker cable.
That's all there is to swapping capacitors in the Duelund-WRSE crossover. Pretty cool!
Ok ... now its time for me to sit down and do a little listening with the Duelund CAST Silver capacitors in the circuit - stay tuned!
Thanks for stopping by!
