I really enjoy hearing from all of you. Every once in a while something really amazing comes to light among the music lovers that stop in for a visit, and this time it's Chris' post about his Tannoys (and more!) that really blew my mind. Chris and I have traded a couple e-mails, and Chris was kind enough to send along some photos so I could share them with all of you. I have included Chris' comments along with the photos he sent along to share. Amazing!

"Thanks for your review of the Tannoys. I have had Autographs for the last 10 years (built here in South Africa to original plans) and about 6 months ago built what I call the “Double Autograph”. These horn cabinets are developed from the Autographs but have two 15″ Dual Concentrics per side." (Gasp! The Doubles are mind-blowing! - Jeff)

"The idea is to reproduce the pipe organ as well as one can and they do that very well. I have a organ with 2,500 pipes in the same room which I used to “voice” the things and have added ribbon drivers to augment the mids, treble and since I was doing it, a ribbon super tweeter as well. The ribbon speakers are also of South African origin." (Gasp! The organ is mind-blowing! - Jeff)

"Amps are either 300B’s or Tact semi-digital. Sub-woofer for 20Hz down to 8Hz. All interconnects are home grown Silver. Turntable also home built, cartridge Blue Angel Mantis." (Gasp! Everything is mind-blowing! - Jeff)

"I really wish you well with your Tannoys, they are truly amazing. A friend had a pair of the HE's which he sold then bought the big Kingdoms which were not a patch on the Westminsters. He then bought another pair of Westminsters, this time the SE and promptly emigrated to Australia before I got to listen to them. Sod."

"My best friend played all the wind instruments and all the keyboard ones as well and I have him to thank for the training my ear received over 45 years.I play very badly - to me the joy is the tinkering around with the organ and listening to music. At one time I played a double B flat Tuba in a Brass Band but that was a long time ago.  Today my joy is listening and so far there is nothing to compare to the Tannoys. I do suggest that you get hold of a Tact/Lingsdorff SDAI amplifier to try out with the Tannoys. These days I very seldom connect the Triodes."

Chris, from source to speakers your Hi-Fi system really blows my mind. Truly, truly, amazing. And voicing it to the pipe organ in the same room ... well, I am in awe. Did I say, "I am in awe." I am, in awe. In awe. IN AWE. You are a fortunate man, my friend, may you be blessed with many happy hours of listening. 🙂
