It's really been snowing here, with the snow piling up, and making for nasty road conditions.
The temperatures have been hovering in the single digits, but now are moving up into the balmy teens!
I just put out a bunch of wild bird seed for my feathered friends, to help them out during this inhospitable cold snap, and it will soon look like a scene from The Birds in my backyard.
All in all, it's a good day to stay inside with a fire burning, listening to a little music, and doing a little reading & writing!
A nice fire in the fireplace is a great audio accessory when the snow is piling up outside my window, and also the perfect time for catching up on a little reading!
I wanted to give you a heads up about a terrific vintage audio book that Josh told me about called How To Build Speaker Enclosures, by Alexis Badmaieff and Don Davis. I picked up my copy from Amazon for $5.
Even if you have no intention of building speaker enclosures, it's a great read, and is a nice way to learn more about vintage loudspeakers.
With chapter titles like Speaker Enclosures, Drivers for Enclosures, Infinite Baffles, Bass-Reflex or Phase-Inversion Enclosures, ...
... Horn Enclosures, Combination Enclosures, Crossover Networks, and Construction And Testing Techniques, who could resist this book's charms!
I might add that there's lots of cool photos (and enclosure plans) for vintage Altec systems (as well as others) for a tasteful visual treat!
There's 144 pages of audio goodness in How To Build Speaker Enclosures, and it'll make an excellent addition to The Garrard Story, by E.W. and B.E. Mortimer, in rounding out your vintage audio education!
Thanks to Josh for the heads up on How To Build Speaker Enclosures, and if you're aware of similar vintage audio book jewels be sure to let me know!
Ok, now it's time for me to get started on my Positive Feedback article about the Acoustic Revive RPT-1 power line conditioner!
Thanks for stopping by!
