A little bit of voltage conditioning for my unshielded Duelund DCA16GA interconnects!

08-03-2017 | By Jeff Day |

I thought I'd provide you another update on my voltage-only conditioning results with the Hagerman Audio Labs FryBaby2, this time with a pair of unshielded Duelund DCA16GA interconnects.

DCA16GA interconnects on the FryBaby2.

I put my unshielded DCA16GA interconnects on the FryBaby2 for 24 hours of voltage-only conditioning, and tonight put them in the system for a little listen.

Leo Kottke's '6 & 12 String Guitar' album.

I put on the Analogue Productions 45rpm version of Leo Kottke's '6 & 12 String Guitar' album for the honors. I just got the album yesterday, and I've already given the album multiple listens, it's such an amazing album, with wonderful music, and like usual AP did a great job on the production.

It's a seminal album for fingerstyle guitarists, and if you've never read up on this album it's worth taking a moment to do so, as Kottke had an enormous influence on guitarists.

Kudos to Chad for doing this album up so spectacularly right, both for the wonderful music, and its historic importance.

But back to the DCA16GA interconnects.

The result with the DCA16GA interconnects is similar to what I experienced with the shielded DCA20GA interconnects, in that the voltage-only conditioning warmed up the cables, making them richer, and it brought out additional texture and overtones in the music, and again, tone was off the charts!

Again I'm thinking I might have got by with only 12 hours of voltage-only conditioning, but I got busy and didn't pull the DCA16GA off the FB2 at the 12 hour mark. Such is life, but it worked out just fine anyways, yielding a very musical pair of DCA12GA interconnects.

I'll tell you what, I really appreciate Bill discovering and mentioning the voltage-only conditioning of the Duelund DCA cables, it makes for a really handy voicing option.

I'm putting my pair of unshielded DCA20GA interconnects on the FryBaby2, this time for 12 hours of conditioning.

I'll report back on the result of that this weekend, or sooner if I can.

Ok, now it's time for a little Bill Evans, after all, everybody digs Bill Evans!

Everybody Digs Bill Evans

Anyways, as always, thanks for stopping by, and may the tone be with you!
