I just got in for review at Positive Feedback Online what can only be described as a really astonishing USB cable that connects a USB DAC to a computer - the Acoustic Revive USB-2.0 SP. On the DAC end there is a single USB-out connector, but on the computer end(s!) there are two USB connectors that plug into the back of the computer, separating each leg, so each leg has its own USB connector.
Let's just say that the results of separating the two legs to two connectors are extremely impressive, and a level beyond any USB connector that I've ever tried. So while these are preliminary impressions, as I've just had it plugged in and playing for about 5 minutes in my System #3 (it's not even broken in yet!) this appears to be one of those 'step changes' that I encounter every once in a while in audio that puts a component-category into completely new territory, both musically and sonically. I'll have the full story about this paradigm breaking design with a full description of its sonic and musical performance in an upcoming issue of Positive Feedback Online, so stay tuned for more information.
