Happy 91st Birthday, Mom!
Sunday was my Mom's 91st Birthday, now that's something to celebrate!
Mom and I started our day of celebration at a nice little French restaurant that's just down the street from Mom's apartment.
We had a delicious brunch of coffee, mimosa, veggie crepes, and Eggs Benedict, that were all made from scratch by the superb chef and owner (husband & wife team).
I have a fond spot in my heart for little family owned specialty restaurants, as both my grandfathers were chefs with their own small restaurants, and my Dad and his brother both were chefs as young men, so I really appreciate all the creativity and effort that goes into running a small restaurant, and of course the superb cuisine that results!
Speaking of Dad, he passed away over the Holidays, at age 92, just shy of Mom & Dad's 69th wedding anniversary, so it was a melancholy Holiday Season for us, and an enormous time of change for Mom and I.
After Mom and I finished our brunch we convened to my place for opening presents and having some birthday cake!
We of course had jazz playing, and it was Mom who introduced me to jazz almost 60 years ago now! Thanks Mom!
After opening presents we had a nice big slice of birthday cake with a steaming hot cup of coffee!
After a nice afternoon of chatting and reminiscing, it was back to Mom's apartment to get her settled in for the evening.
Happy Birthday, Mom! I love you!
