I spent the last week in Chicago for a work review at Fermilab and Argonne, and since man cannot live on neutrinos alone, one of our gracious hosts - William - put on an awesome Chicago pizza extravaganza for us one night that was a blast! Many thanks to William!

It also meant that upon getting home I was in serious need of burning off some of those pizza carbs with some bike rides!

Kester solder, my favorite solder these days.

After I got home I was also thinking about getting out my soldering iron and doing a little soldering project, but I realized I'd left my Kester at Ron's place during the MC30 Adventures with Ron-san & Mr. Yazaki-san.

I sent a quick note to Ron to see if it would be ok if I rode by his place to pick up the Kester, and Ron responded with an affirmative and an invite to listen to his Klipschorns, which he'd just finished wiring internally with Western Electric WE16GA.

Perfect! That way I could get in a 17 mile ride and a listening session - that's a win-win for sure! I dropped a bottle of wine into my bike bag and pedaled off to Ron's place!

Ron rewired his Klipschorns internally with Western Electric WE16GA, then made some Western Electric WE16GA speaker cables for his K-horns, and added in some Belden 8402 microphone cable interconnects.

The result was magic!

Ron's Klipschorns are heavily hot-rodded with new crossovers, a Bruce Edgar designed mid-range horn, and lots of other goodies to get the best out of them.

Today Ron was using a pair of Leo-san's Wright 2A3 monaural amplifiers and a bespoke preamplifier, which was a match made in heaven for the K-horns.

Oracle turntable with Dynavector arm.

Playing vinyl on Ron's Oracle turntable with a Dynavector arm was absolutely incredible! We spun a number of records, new and old, and the result was always rich, colorful, timbrally correct, with a spacious soundstage and pin-point imaging, and intense musicality, or as Mr. Yazaki-san would say, Real Sound!

Ron was heading off for a little cartridge-listening at Pete Riggle's place, and I needed to get home and get caught back up around the house after being gone all week. Sumi loaded me up with some fresh garden vegetables (Thanks Sumi!), and I pedaled off to Jeff's Place.

I enjoyed listening to Ron's hot-rodded Klipschorns so much that I'm tempted to get a pair of Klipschorns of my own for the third system I've been contemplating. They're an American classic, and they'd be a blast to hot-rod!

Ok, I fired up the grill and roasted some fresh veggies for lunch! I sliced a garden fresh cucumber and tomatoes, drizzled fresh lemon juice & balsamic over it, and grated a bit of fresh parmesan on top. As soon as the grilled fresh eggplant, squash, and tomato were ready, I poured a glass of nice French wine, and now it is time to eat while listening to some tunes!
