For those of you who have been keeping score, you know I've been really impressed with the New Valve Order SPA-II (Stereo Phono Amplifier-II) that I reviewed for Positive Feedback Online in Issue 57, and it has become my reference for the state-of-art in a phono equalizer.

The SPA-II was created by the talented fine audio constructeur, Andreas Hadjiminas, who is working out of Nicosia, Cyprus, and just today the distributer for New Valve Order, Panicos Kontemeniotis, sent me photos of Andreas' latest creation, the SPA-one.

Panicos said in his e-mail, "It is called SPA one, and it is largely based on the circuit of the SPA-II, with fewer tubes and a one-box chassis that looks like the SPA-II’s, but with toggle switches instead of the push buttons of the II.

Panicos went on to say, "Although a simplified version of the SPA-II, the SPA one shares most of the SPA-II's musicality, low noise, and low distortion."

Panicos said that a final price had not been set yet , but it is expected to be between 55-60 % of the SPA-II's price.
