Exactly half a century has already passed since my master, Mr. Katsutaro Anzai, released an article about the WE310A drive PX25A single-ended amplifier design on the July 1972 issue of “MJ”, an old and authoritative audio journal.
Also, nearly half a century has passed since I built up this stereo power amplifier according to Anzai-san’s circuit diagram at the beginning of 1973. So, it's been a pretty long time for me since I've been involved with this single-ended amplifier.
But, how fortunately, in the year 2022, at the half a century anniversary, it has turned out to be a bountiful year for me with various discoveries related to groundbreaking sound quality improvements. So, I’d like to share my personal experiences related to “Real-Sound Adventure” chronologically this year with the readers of Jeff's Place.
Well, also in this milestone year, luckily enough, I was able to have a chance to visit Alan-san and make all of these latest version-upgrades on both his vintage Tango transformer version, and the Hashimoto transformer version on last October.
Of course, Alan-san and his wife, Paula-san went through all this and shared delightful listening sessions with me. Therefore, I would like to introduce you Alan-san's frank impressions in the last chapter about the pleasant surprise of the sound quality improvement in this version-upgrade, which should be really called “Real-Sound Adventure” for Alan-san and me.
In addition, the “iPhone Adventure” introduced in my previous article has also made great progress in a few months from the end of 2022 to early 2023, making it possible to listen to music in a more deep and enjoyable fashion.
This is good news for the music lovers who want to enjoy various kinds of music all over the world to their heart's content in a very simple and reasonable way, rather than for so-called high-end audio enthusiasts. I will introduce this you in Part 7.
