As you probably know, I really enjoy writing about the Acoustic Revive audio accessories that are designed and manufactured by Mr. Ken Ishiguro in Japan.
If you look closely at the photos in my articles for Six Moons, Positive Feedback, and Jeff's Place over the last nine years (!), you've seen Acoustic Revive accessories everywhere, and that's because they work great! Believe me, nothing lasts for long in my systems if it doesn't work great!
Mr. Ken Ishiguro and Mr. Yoshi Hontani (exporter) have sent me another very interesting new Acoustic Revive design for evaluation, the Acoustic Revive RPC-1 Power Supply Conditioner.
I'm still learning about the RPC-1 Power Line Conditioner, but here's some snippets from the Acoustic Revive web site to help introduce it:
"The Power Supply Conditioner RPC - 1 developed and commercialized the idea of the late Mr. Jun Shibata, inventor of the infrared mouse, through collaborative research between HWT and Acoustic Revive."
"It is a revolutionary product that can be called a new genre of power supply accessories that reduces and homogenizes super high frequency noise on the power supply path and dramatically improves the signal-to-noise ratio while also improving energy feeling and dynamic feeling."
"Unique circuit design based on a combination of special coils inside the RPC-1 only removes super high frequency noise on the power supply path.
"Since RPC-1 does not use any parts such as condenser and resistance at all, there is no energy loss at all."
"For this reason, there is no occurrence of side effects such as attenuation of energetic feeling and dynamic feeling like a parallel type noise filter, improving the signal-to-noise ratio and transparency, but improving the feeling of energy and dynamics as well as improving the contradictory play realizing sound quality improvement effect."
"RPC-1 adopts the ultimate audio conductor exclusive PC-Triple C which has Hickory excellent in acoustic characteristics in the case and silk Teflon insulation superior in relative dielectric constant to the cable part."
"The power plug, shield, cushioning material, and exterior are also all using high quality parts, further improving the effect by making full use of various materials that enhance the noise reduction effect. For this reason, we will not only improve S / N ratio and energy feeling but also realize natural and vivid tone and texture."
"How to use RPC - 1 is easy, just attach it to a vacant outlet. By attaching it to a power strip or a wall outlet that is supplying power to audio equipment, it exerts a tremendous effect."
"Since RPC-1 acts on all power supply routes in the home, even if you are wearing it in a vacant receptacle in a house that is not an audio room, it is possible to make a very big effect."
"RPC-1 achieves S / N ratio and energy feeling far beyond the isolation transformer and power generator, but it can improve the performance of the clean power source itself by installing it in the outlet of the clean power supply It will be possible."
"Especially the power generator itself generates a lot of high frequency noise, so you can expect an enormous effect by attaching RPC - 1 to the outlet of a clean power supply."
Acoustic Revive RPC-1 Power Supply Conditioner plugged into AC outlet next to a Sablon Audio power cord.
The Acoustic Revive RPC-1 Power Supply Conditioner has already caused quite a stir in Japan, winning the 2016 MJ Technology of the Year Accessories Division Excellence Award, so I was quite curious to hear what all the fuss was about!
The Acoustic Revive RPC-1 Power Supply Conditioner arrived yesterday by FedEx just a bit before I was leaving to attend a Christmas dinner event with my 91-year young Mom, where she lives in an assisted living center, so I only had time to look the RPC-1 over and then give it a short listen before dashing out the door to dinner.
After unpacking it, I looked the RPC-1 over closely, and I was very impressed with the quality of materials, the exquisite fit & finish, and how do I say this ... its beauty! It's gorgeous!
The RPC-1 is 17 cm (6.7 inch) wide & deep by 8 cm (3.2 inch) high, and weighs about 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs).
I had the Miles Davis Ascenseur pour l'echafaud album from Music On Vinyl on my turntable (great album!), and had just been listening to it when the RPC-1 arrived, so I thought I'd plug the RPC-1 into my wall outlet and see what happened.
Consider these to be very preliminary impressions, as I only had a short listen, but wow (!) the RPC-1 sure made a good impression on me!
The effect of the RPC-1 was considerable, with an immediately noticeable improvement in tone & naturalness, a marked improvement in 'presence' of the instruments, and with transparency & the sense of space opening way up.
I'll be doing a lot more listening to the RPC-1 in the near future, and will report back on further impressions as I'm better able to articulate everything it is doing, and it is doing a lot, so stay tuned!
